Business Analyst Consultant, Finance Technology

Summary

Our consultants are recruiting for a Business Analyst (BA) consultant for the Technology Product & Strategy department of a dynamic alternative investment management firm. The BA will work closely with the Finance Technology Product Manager, business partners, and engineering teams to deliver technology solutions that drive efficiency through technology-enabled process redesign and automation.

The BA ensures that solutions maintain alignment with strategic product goals and deliver intended business value through meticulous investigation of business needs and effective communication across stakeholders. Additionally, the BA is responsible for cross-team coordination and project management activities for their initiatives.

The BA will support our Private Equity, Infrastructure, and Real Estate Finance teams. The initial area of focus will be performance and analytics platform, establishing automated integrations and extending our use of business intelligence tools such as Power BI/Tableau. Future initiatives will include extending the user interface for entity management and rearchitecting our Finance team's valuation platform. These projects will involve detailed analysis of current business processes and data then translating these processes into requirements for SaaS platforms and custom developed integrations across our technology ecosystem.

Responsibilities
The individual will be involved in the following critical activities:

  • Partner with our finance professionals to understand and document business processes.

  • Analyze business technology needs to identify root problems and new opportunities.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams and vendors to identify solution options.

  • Evaluate solution options to identify opportunities and risks.

  • Investigate business data and related systems to provide context for engineering teams.

  • Define user stories that give clear guidance for solution implementation.

  • Understand project goals and coordinate with all involved parties to ensure projects are on track to deliver these goals.

  • Create project plans that set milestones, identify dependencies, and communicate progress.

  • Organize and facilitate meetings to share timelines and address open questions.

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors through implementation and rollout.

  • Build trusted relationships with end-users by providing system support and incorporating feedback.

Education, Skills, And Experience Requirements
The ideal experience and critical competencies for the role include the following:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.

  • 2+ years of experience as a BA for custom development and/or vendor implementations.

  • Experience in finance and the asset management industry is a plus.

  • Experience working in collaborative environments and with Agile methodologies.

  • Effective communication and ability to synthesize complex concepts for various audiences.

  • Adaptable, dependable, and dedicated to your products and team.
